Anywhere Travel Companion
The new Anywhere Map? Travel Companion (ATC) is an all-new way to love Anywhere Map. This is the most powerful handheld device ever built by HP and it is offered as a dedicated touch screen street navigation device. With a big, bright 4.3" screen, incredible sharp high resolution screen, plenty of memory, and a fast dual core processor; this is a very powerful machine. It has a bigger, brighter screen and a smaller, lighter case than anything you have ever seen. Because it is a dedicated navigation appliance there is no software to install.

Everything You Need "Built-In"
The ATC is a special version of the HP iPAQ 310. It retains all of the functionality of the original iPAQ Travel Companion and adds to this a special EMBEDDED EDITION of Anywhere Map®.

Not only does the ATC's 4.3" ultra high-definition 800 x 480 screen give the best view ever in handheld devices, it's touch-screen operated, with big buttons; and unlike many such products, there is nothing to load, nothing to initialize, no "internal computer" to operate ? just turn it on and fly!

The ATC is convenient and capable, including among its talents the patented "cones of safety" glide calculator, high resolution terrain, flight planning and obstacle and terrain warnings. Options include XM Weather and Pocket Plates® approach plates that provide the features and safety margin available on modern panel-mounted units, and then some. ?By pilots, for pilots,? defines the eight years of intensive development that have resulted in the most intuitive navigation system that ever went into an airplane.

The ATC offers an advanced high-resolution terrain map, detailed aviation data including navaids, airspace, airways, SUAs and TFRs, with advanced flight tools like a VNnav HSI, flight planning, weight & balance, calculator, and an Airport Guide. Anywhere Map's Personal Digital Co- Pilot® tracks your flight and issues Reminders like Switch Fuel Tanks and Begin Descent along with Obstacle and Terrain Warnings.

Anywhere Map features
  • High-resolution terrain
  • Terrain elevation warnings and avoidance
  • Obstacle warnings and avoidance
  • Patented Cones of Safety® glide prediction system
  • Special Use Airspace; TFRs updated 4 times daily online
  • Anywhere Airport Directory
  • Published holds
  • 28-day NACO (FAA) database - upgrade with internet convenience
  • More than 4000 Instrument approach procedures
  • Personal Digital CoPilot® Reminders and Alerts
  • Nearest Airport, VOR, ATIS, AWOS, FSS and ATC frequencies
  • VNAV with virtual Glideslope to any airport
  • Weight & Balance plus E6b flight calculations
  • Optional in-flight XM weather: NEXRAD, METARs, TAFs, Cloud Cover
  • Optional Pocket Plates (Coming Soon!)

The iPAQ 310 is unlike all other iPAQ units made by HP in that it is NOT a Pocket PC and does not have a start menu or most elements of a PDA. Out of the box, the 310 cannot be customized by installing other applications. It was conceived and designed as a competitor for the many compact touch screen GPS navigation devices on the market, and not as a pocket computer.

Once modified by Control Vision with the addition of Anywhere Map and our customizations to the operating system, the iPAQ becomes the Anywhere Map Travel Companion ? ATC. The ATC is a totally new, totally pre-loaded, take-it-out-of-the-box-and-use-it GPS navigator for pilots, based on consumer GPS technology.

    The ATC Companion is:
  • Simple to use
  • Built By Hewlett-Packard, driven by Anywhere Map
  • A Personal Digital CoPilot® Handheld GPS for Pilots
  • An amazing 3D street navigation system
  • Upgradable to Pocket Plates®
  • Upgradable to XMWX®
  • $895 for a full featured Highway/Airway GPS

    The ATC is NOT:
  • A Pocket Computer, telephone, or PDA
  • A complicated software package
  • Another "throw away" portable GPS
  • $1500+ with only 1 update and no street maps

    ATC Features:
  • 4.3", high-definition, 800 x 480 touch screen
  • Integrated GPS navigation
  • Advanced SiRF embedded GPS receiver with InstantFixTM time-to-first-fix acceleration
  • Integrated Bluetooth v2.0
  • 600 MHz Processor - Dual Core
  • Enhanced Anywhere Map Software

Your first 1 year of software and database updates are free. This includes the 28 Day Aeronautical Database, which is published every 28 days and updates airport, airspace, airway, frequency, and other information. Annual subscriptions are $115.
